Fossil Creek Wild and Scenic River is truly a magical oasis. Anywhere you stop along this creek you are sure to see waterfalls as they appear along the whole river. A couple of the bigger waterfalls, such as the one at the end of Waterfall Trail, require a hike to get to from Lot 01 Waterfall Trailhead Parking.
Permits through https://www.recreation.gov/permits/251863 are required to take this 14-mile nicely paved dirt road that leads directly to multiple parking lots located along the creek. The water is so clear, fish are visible enough for people to see and playful dogs to try to catch. In many parts the water is shallow, knee to waist deep. Other parts of this turquoise colored water are very deep, to the point where you couldn’t even swim to the bottom if you tried.
This is a great place to bring family and dogs. For those who desire to explore more of this majestic place, venture up or down the creek and see how many waterfalls you can count.
Activities include: hiking, nature viewing, picnicking, cliff jumping, snorkeling
