Water Wheel Falls Hiking trail leads to a couple waterfalls quite a few stories high. There are a few different ways to get to the destinations to view the waterfalls and it is not at the parking lot marked Water Wheel. The best place to park is actually at the parking lot after this incorrectly designated lot, the “Second Crossing”.
Following the flow of the water under the bridge and are met with the first sign of waterfalls mixed with fascinating geological structures. After you’ve reached this first waterfall, just past the huge fallen boulder in the middle of the creek is a cliff jumping spot. The main path, the trail that leads to the bigger waterfalls, starts across the street. Just up the hill on the left will be a visible dirt road with a gate preventing people from driving down it. This is the trailhead that if you take it to the very end, it will lead to the grand Water Wheels Waterfall.
Follow the flow of water from this point, and you can notice that there are two creeks that diverge into one large one that leads directly to a massive waterfall even bigger than the last. The rock walls next to the spilling ledge of water is full of vibrant color, blues, greens, yellows and reds, as if a natural rainbow was splattered on the wall. Old anchors are nested on the cliffside, remnants of people daring enough to repel down from great heights into the waterfalls’ misty depths. Activities include: Hiking, waterfall watching, nature viewing, snorkeling, cliff jumping
