West Clear Creek Trailhead offers a magnificent trail for an amazing hiking experience and cool, refreshing water nestled between colorful, breathtaking canyon walls. The entrance to get to this destination is located along the 260 highway near Strawberry, Arizona. From the highway turnoff, a dirt road will lead you to a well marked parking area displayed with the name of the trail.
The descent down the canyon to the water is extremely steep and with little to no grip in many areas, it can be very slippery. It is not recommended to bring small children or dogs. The trail leads you through a luscious jungle of various plants displaying countless hues of green. Giant green trees cover the sky, providing shade a majority of the trail down.
At the bottom, the water is crystal clear and filled with fish. The canyon walls are steep, flat and make you feel tiny in comparison. Butterflies flutter all about and the trees are not shy of water and you can tell by their massiveness. There are many creek crossings so water shoes are a must just as much as sturdy hiking shoes for the climb up and down the canyon. Where there is water, there is life and that becomes very obvious as different kinds of lizards, birds and plant life appear to be flourishing in abundance. It is a beautifully striking view no matter which way you turn. Activities include: Hiking, snorkeling, nature viewing
